The Virgin River - Great Fishing - Beautiful Hiking:
LOVE HIKING? The East Zion Tourism Council wrote the following about the East Fork of the Virgin River, "The East Fork of the Virgin River begins near Alton and runs through Mt. Carmel Junction. From Mt. Carmel Junction it forms one of the Most Magnificent Hikes anywhere, Parunuweap. This route takes hikers through the river as the walls narrow to form a slot canyon. Hikers navigate their way out of the river and end their route at Checkerboard Mesa in Zion National Park. The North Fork of the Virgin River is the river that is famous for carving Zion Canyon."
There are plenty of Rainbow Trout and an occasional German Brown Trout slipping through the water, allowing you to become very proficient at fly fishing. It is also a beautiful place for kids to roll up their pant legs and cool off in the summer.
